May 1 - Marilyn's Birthday. Our first day all together. Vince took us shopping at a place where Disney employees and guests could only shop. And what bargains we found. Everyone came away with new t-shirts, sweatshirts, gifts, etc. It was so much fun and we all DO love to shop!! Vince then took us on a tour of parts of Disney and showed us where he works at the Disney Resorts. We had a fun day and were all looking forward to the next surprise Vince had for Marilyn. Dinner was the next surprise - but more about that in the next blog. Once we came home, we brought Marilyn her birthday gifts. She received three really special gifts from us. Larry brought her a coin dated 1938 and a coin dated 2008. The older coin was in excellent shape and she now has both displayed in one of her curio cabinets. She then opened the gift from all the siblings - and she was very touched by it. It was a hand-made lap quilt showing all our names, her name and birthdate, Vince's name and Mom's. It was made specifically for her by a very close friend of mine - Sandy. And we could all tell she loved it. Her last gift was from Aunt Dixie and it also was very special. Aunt Dixie gave her a picture collage frame with a poem on "Memories" but she also put pictures in the frame. There was a picture of her and Marilyn as kids, a picture of Mom & Daddy, a picture of Mom, Daddy and 5 of us kids, a picture of Marilyn and "Baby Ann" and a picture of Grandma and Grandpa. I know she could see that a lot of love went into each of these gifts!!
After seeing these gifts and how special they all were to her, I again had to just stop and thank the Lord for another very special "memory" for not only Marilyn, but for all of us. One could not help but see how special Marilyn is to us all and the love that was flowing during this birthday celebration!!!
